Action / Use
ACTION:
Insecticide.
USE: For Coleopterous, Hemipterous, and Lepidopterous pests of cereals, coffee, cotton, fruit, rape, rice, soybeans, and vegetables. Cutworm control in all row crops.
FORMULATIONS: Emulsifiable concentrate, flowable, ULV (concentration varies by country). Other formulations may be developed for specific local use.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Chlorpyrifos.

Identification

COMMON NAME: alpha-Cypermethrin (BSI, ISO-E draft); alpha-Cyperm閠hrine (ISO-F draft); Cypermethyrin-alpha (CSA); Alfamethrin (rejected); Alphamethrin (rejected).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: Racemate containing (S)-a-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (1R)-cis-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopopanecarboxylate & (R)-a-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (1S)-cis-3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclopopanecarboxylate.
PROPERTIES: Crystalline powder. Soluble in chloroform, methylene chloride, toluene, xylene, acetone. Slightly soluble in petroleum ether, hexane, methanol.

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: Toxic. Fastac*: Low hazard.
WATER SOLUBILITY: <1 ppm at 25℃.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: Tech: (Rat): Oral LD50 64 mg/kg. (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 >2000 mg/kg. Fastac*: (Rat): Oral LD50 64-5000 mg/kg (depending on vehicle). Low order of percutaneous toxicity to mammals.
HANDLING/STORAGE CAUTIONS: Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or mouth. Do not eat, drink, or smoke when handling. Avoid breathing spray mist. Keep away from children and unauthorized persons. Wash hands and exposed skin with soap and water after use. Remove and thoroughly wash heavily contaminated clothing immediately, especially insides of gloves. Do not apply when weather conditions favor drift, or where runoff is likely to occur. Keep out of lakes, streams, ponds, tidal marshes, and estuaries.
