Action / Use
ACTION: Fumigant; Insecticide.
USE: Controls stored product insects and aphids, caterpillars, mushroom flies, spider mites, thrips, whiteflies in greenhouses, fruits, vegetables. Also used for insect monitoring and mass trapping programs of codling moth, gypsy moth, spruce budworm, forest tent caterpillar, Mediterranean fruit fly, Oriental fruit fly, southwestern corn borer, boll weevil, and sweetpotato weevil. Used in conjunction with insect attractants to kill trapped insects.
FORMULATIONS: Aerosols, emulsifiable concentrate, multi-layered laminated strip.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Chlorpyrifos; Dimethoate; Fenvalerate; Phosalone.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Dichlorvos (ISO, BSI, ESA); DDVP (JMAF).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: 2,2-Dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate(1).
CLASS: Organophosphate.
PROPERTIES: Colorless liquid. Specific gravity 1.423. Vapor pressure 2.9 x 10-3 mbar at 20℃. Boiling point 117℃/10 mm. Miscible in dichloromethane, 2-propanol, toluene. Barely soluble in kerosene.

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: LC50 1.0 mg/l (24 h) (bluegill). Bee: Toxic.
WATER SOLUBILITY: Barely soluble.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: (Rat): Oral LD50 approx. 50 mg/kg. Dermal approx. 300 mg/kg.
HANDLING/STORAGE: Store in original container, preferably in a locked area, away from children, food, feed.
