Action / Use
ACTION: Herbicide.
USE: For use in citrus and pineapple plantations and noncropland.
FORMULATIONS: Granular, liquid, water soluble liquid, wettable powder.
PREMIX PARTNERS: Diuron; Sodium Chlorate; Sodium Metaborate; Terbutryn.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Bromacil (ANSI, ISO, BSI, JMAF, WSSA).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: 5-Bromo-3-sec-butyl-6-methyluracil(1).
CLASS: Uracil.
PROPERTIES: Crystalline solid. Melting point 158?159?C. Moderately soluble in acetone, strong aqueous bases, acetonitrile, and ethyl alcohol; sparingly in hydrocarbons.

Environmental Guidelines
HAZARDS: Fish: LC50 28 ppm (rainbow trout); 71 ppm (bluegill). Bee: Nontoxic.
SOIL PARTICLE ADSORPTION: Bromacil can seep or leach through soil and can enter groundwater which may be used as drinking water. Procedures must be followed to minimize potential bromacil movement into groundwater.
WATER SOLUBILITY: 815 ppm at 25℃.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: (Rat): Oral LD50 5200 mg/kg.
HANDLING/STORAGE CAUTIONS: Store in a cool, dry place. May irritate eye, nose, throat, skin. Avoid breathing dust or spray mist. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep away from heat and open flame.
