Action / Use
ACTION: Fungicide; Seed Treatment/Protectant.
USE: For field crops, fruits, grapevines, vegetables, nuts, and commercial sod farms. Seed treatment for cereal grains, corn, cotton, flax, peanuts, potatoes, safflower, sorghum, and tomatoes. Fore* for flowers, ornamental trees, shrubs, turf sod, and golf courses. MonCoat* MZ is a seed piece treatment for potatoes.
FORMULATIONS: Dust, flowable suspension, liquid flowable, water dispersible granules, wettable powder.

Identification

COMMON NAME: Mancozeb (BSI, ISO-E); Manzeb (JMAF); Mancozèbe (ISO-F).

Chemistry

COMPOSITION: Coordination product of zinc ion, manganese ethylene bisdithiocarbamate related to both maneb and zineb.
CLASS: Ethylene bisdithiocarbamate.
PROPERTIES: Yellowish powder, practically odorless; Fore*: blue to green powdered solid, musty odor. Decomposes in acid and alkaline conditions. Decomposed by heat and when exposed to moisture and air. No corrosive properties. Negligible volatility at room temperature. Practically insoluble in most organic solvents.

Environmental Guidelines

HAZARDS: Fish: LD50 (96 h) 0.46 mg/l (rainbow trout). Bird: Oral LD50 >6400 mg/kg (mallard duck).
WATER SOLUBILITY: Dispersible.

Safety Guidelines

TOXICITY: Dithane*, Fore*: (Rat): Oral LD50 >5000 mg/kg; Inhalation LC50 >5.14 mg/l (4 h). (Rabbit): Dermal LD50 >5000.
HANDLING/STORAGE CAUTIONS: Do not store near food, feed, or drinking water. Store in dry, well-ventilated area. Keep container tightly closed when not in use. Keep from freezing.
PRODUCT/WASTE DISPOSAL: Dispose of empty container in a sanitary landfill or by incineration as allowed by state and local authorites.

Emergency Guidelines

FLASHPOINT: 138℃ (TOC).
FIRST AID: Get medical aid. Eyes: flush immediately with plenty of water. Skin: wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Ingestion: drink 2 glasses of water. Inhalation: remove to fresh air.
